Abstract

ABSTRACT Wulandari, Endang Tri. 2023. The Relation between Physical Quality of the Environment and the Behavior of Cleaning Workers with the Germ Rate of Inpatient Room Floors at Kertosono Regional Hospital, Nganjuk Regency. Thesis. S1. Environmental Health Study Program. Widyagama Husada College of Health Sciences. Malang. Advisors: 1. Devita Sari, S.T., MM., 2. Agus Yohanan, SH., M. KL. Inpatient rooms in hospital have physical environmental factors including temperature, humidity, and lighting in which controlling environmental factors is needed. This is intended to prevent the transmission of diseases called Nosocomial infections. Nosocomial infections is caused by bacteria originating from intermediary media such as air, sticking to floors, soil, or food. By the existence of several cases of Phlebitis and Pneumonia at Kertosono Regional Hospital, in an effort to overcome the incidence of Nosocomial infections this study aimed to analyze the relation between physical quality of the environment and the behavior of cleaners with the germ amount of of the inpatient room floor at RSD. Kertosono. This study used an observational design with a cross sectional approach. The research samples were all 12 inpatient rooms and observations of the behavior of cleaning staff which carried out on 12 people. Sampling was determined by using total sampling technique and the statistical tests used were Chi-square and Prevalence Risk (PR) tests. Based on the results of the study, it is shown that temperature, humidity, and lighting have no relation with the number of floor germs. Temperature has no relation with the number of floor germs (p=0.523 PR=0.500), humidity has no relation with the number of floor germs (p=0.222 PR=0.333), lighting has no relation with the number of floor germs (p=1.000 PR=0.545) , and only the behavior of the cleaning staff has relation with the number of floor germs (p=0.028 PR=3.500). It can be concluded that the most risky factor for the incidence of germ rates in inpatient rooms is the behavior of cleaning staff with a Prevalence Ratio (PR) value of 3.500.
