Abstract

Disposal of human faeces or defecation (BAB) is an important part of environmental sanitation. Disposal of human waste which does not meet sanitary requirements can cause soil and water pollution, also trigger disease vector animals such as flies or other insects to nest, breed and spread disease. Craken Village is a village that has a river flow, where people who live close to the river about 100 m choose to throw their faeces into the river. The study aims to determine the factors that influence the habit of defecating on the people of Craken Village, Trenggalek Regency. The research design used an observational analytic approach cross sectional. The population of this study were all family heads at Craken Village, amounting 1125 people by using proportional random sampling as many as 102 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire and multivariate statistical tests in the form of multiple logistic regression tests. The results shows that the independent variables which have a partial effect were X1 knowledge (0.036 < ρ 0.05), X2 education level (0.019 < ρ 0.05), X3 income (0.045 < ρ 0.05), latrine ownership X5 (0.011 < ρ 0.05) on toilet habits Open defecation in the community at Craken Village. While the variable that has no effect is X4 age (0.400 > ρ 0.05, X6 Access to clean water (0.082 > ρ 0.05, X7septic tank (0.170 > ρ 0.05), X8 the role of promotion officer (0.807 > ρ 0.05).
