Abstract

Improper use of pesticides will cause negative impacts such as pesticide residues on agricultural commodities, especially vegetable commodities in which consumed raw, such as fresh vegetables. Farmers use pesticides not in accordance with the instructions listed on the pesticide packaging label. They spray ranged from 3-6 times during one planting period according to the type of pest. This study aims to determine the most effective reduction of pesticide residues among methods of reducing pesticide residues on long beans (Vigna Sinensis L.). This research was a descriptive quantitative research with a true experimental approach using a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The sample in this research is long bean vegetable. Data analysis in this study used the Chocran-Q test to determine the hypothesis of the effectiveness of reducing pesticide residues in long beans (Vigna Sinensis L.). Based on the study it shows that the results of the effectiveness test for reducing pesticide residues by soaking in hot water immersion treatment experienced the greatest decrease among the others, 95.494%. The value of the Chocran-Q test results in reducing pesticide residues is 0.046 <0.05, so there is an effectiveness in reducing pesticide residues in long beans (Vigna Sinensis L.). It can be concluded that the most effective pesticide residues treatment among all is by hot water immersion treatment.
