Abstract
ABSTRACT Hazainudin, Gilang Dewi Fauziah. Risk Analysis of the Physical Home Environment and Smoking Habits on the Incidence of Pneumonia in Toddler in Pamekasan. Thesis. S1. Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae which infects the upper respiratory tract of adults and children. The highest cases of toddler pneumonia occurred in Pamekasan Regency, at the Sopa'ah Health Center. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of risk factors on the physical home environment and smoking habits on the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers at the Sopa'ah Health Center. The research design used analytic observational with a cohort approach. The research sample was divided into two parts, 50 toddlers who were sick and 24 toddlers who had recovered. Determination of the sample used purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used was the chi-square test and Relative Risk (RR). The results show that age and gender had no effect on the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. Occupancy density affects the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.032 RR=1.431), ventilation affects the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.021 RR=1.479), lighting affects the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.032 RR=1.421), temperature does not affect the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.521 RR=1.112), humidity has an effect on the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.031 RR=1.449), and smoking habits has an effect on the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p=0.017 RR=2.008). The most risky factors which effect the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers is smoking habits of family members with a reltive risk value (RR) of 2.008.
