Abstract

Ahmad Guntur Alfianto, S.Kep.M.Kep Background: Rheumatism is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disorder or autoimmune response, in which a person's immune system can be compromised and decreased causing the destruction of the joints and synovial lining, especially in the hands, feet and knees. Rheumatism is generally influenced by several factors, namely physiological and psychological changes. To overcome and reduce the level of occurrence of the elderly population affected by rheumatic diseases is to provide a level of knowledge of the role of the family in the handling and prevention of rheumatic diseases in the elderly. Research Objective: To find out whether there is a relationship between knowledge and family roles on rheumatic relapse in family members who are elderly. Research Methods: Collecting data in this study using purposive sampling method according to the formulation of the problem and research objectives that meet the inclusion criteria to determine the relationship between knowledge of the elderly and the role of the family with a total of 34 respondents. Research Results: The results of the study include two analysis results, namely:analysis univariate on each variable in the form of frequency distribution and analysis bivariate using spearman correlation test to determine the relationship between knowledge of the elderly and family roles.
