ABSTRACT Djibu, Erni. 2021. The Influence of the Role of Nurses as Educators on Compliance with Taking Medicines in Hypertensive Patients at the Dinoyo Public Health Center, Malang City. Thesis. Advisor II: Fatimah Zahra, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep Background: Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that can cause death. This disease is the silent disease because the patient does not know he has hypertension. One of the absolute requirements to be able to achieve the effectiveness of therapy and improve the quality of life of patients is compliance, while the patient's non-compliance in taking drugs is one of the main factors causing therapy failure. The nurse's role as an educator helps patients increase knowledge about medical care and actions so that patients get information to improve drug adherence to hypertension. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the nurse's role as an educator on medication adherence in hypertensive patients. Method: This research method is a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach which was carried out on 60 respondents with hypertension at the Dinoyo Public Health Center, Malang City. This research method uses data collection techniques by providing instruments in the form of a nurse's role questionnaire and medication adherence which is then tested using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results of this study showed that the role of nurses as educators at the Dinoyo Public Health Center Malang was good as many as 34 respondents (56.7%), and adherence to taking medication in hypertension patients at the Dinoyo Health Center with the most respondents being 43 respondents (71.7%). From the results of this study between the role of nurses and adherence to taking medication in patients with hypertension, there is an influence with a value (p = 0.000). Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is an influence between the role of nurses as educators with medication adherence. the better the nurse's role as an educator, the more obedient the patient is in taking medication Keywords : Hypertension; The role of nurses as educators; medication Adherence
