Abstract

ABSTRACT Sakdiyah, Halimatus. 2017. Correlation of Personal Hygiene of Food Traders with Coliform Bacteria Contamination on Snacks (Cilok) in Elementary School of UPT PKM Kepanjen Work Area. Thesis. S1 Environmental Health Study Program of Widyagama Husada School of Health Malang. Advisors: (1). Agus Yohanan, S.H., M.KL., (2). Zhafira Sakinah, S.Si., M.KKK. The problem studied was grounded from the incidence of food poisoning caused by Coliform contained in cilok. The results of observation indicated that cilok traders were lack of attention to personal hygiene that can cause contamination in the cilok. In KepMenKes RI No. 715 / Menkes / SK / V / 2003 on the requirements of food, it is stated that Coliform / Escherichia coli on food should be 0 / gram. The study aims at finding out the correlation of personal hygiene food traders with coliform bacteria contamination on snacks (cilok) in elementary school of UPT PKM Kepanjen work area. The study used correlational study design (correlation / association) with a cross-sectional approach. Population in this study was all cilok traders in 8 elementary schools in Kepanjen District. The sample was 8 merchants. Instruments used were questionnaires and laboratory examination. Data analysis was conducted by univariate and bivariate. The result of this research indicated that there was correlation between education characteristic (p = 0,018) α <0,05, knowledge (p = 0,018) α <0,05, personal hygiene trader and presence of Coliform in cilok (p value = 0,018 α <0,05, and about sanitation facilities, it was obtained (p = 0.018) α <0.05. The traders is suggested to pay more attention and improve hygiene practices, especially hand washing before and after handling food to avoid contamination of cilok, while for community it is expected to be more vigilant in choosing the food they consume.
