Abstract

ABSTRACT Tuatfaru, Abraham Christian. 2018. Relation of Depression Level to the Quality of Life of People with HIV / AIDS (ODHA) at Jombang Care Center (JCC) in Jombang. Thesis. S1 Nursing Study Program of Widyagama Husada Health Science College. Advisors: 1. Dr. Wira Daramatasia M.Biomed, 2. Ns Mizam Ari K., S.Kep, M.Kep. Background : HIV / AIDS is a global problem that has threatened all countries in the world. The problem of HIV / AIDS not only attacks the human immune system but can also attack biological, psychological, social and spiritual systems. One of the psychological problems faced by ODHA is depression. Continued depression will have a negative impact on physical and mental conditions that affect the quality of life of ODHA. Purpose : To find out the relation of depression level to the quality of life of people with HIV / AIDS (ODHA) at Jombang Care Center (JCC) in Jombang. Method : This research used Observational Analysis with Cross Sectional approach. Research place at Jombang Care Center (JCC) in Jombang, sampling technique used was purposive sampling with total sample of 43 people. Measurement of depression and quality of life using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire and WHOQOL-HIV BREF questionnaire. Statistical analysis used Somers'd non-parametric test. Findings : The results showed that the majority of ODHA had a normal depression level of 22 people (52.2%) and the dominant quality of life was 29 people (67.4%). Based on the results of statistical tests it was obtained p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) because the p< α then H0 was rejected which means there was relationship between the level of depression on the quality of life of ODHA. Suggestion : Family and community must provide support to overcome psychological disorders (depression) experienced by ODHA.
