Misbahul Subhi, S.KM., M.KL Chrome metal coating industry wastes contain heavy metal chromium VI which is harmful to human health and the environment if it exceeds specified quality standards. So it needs to be processed before being discharged into the environment. This research use groundnut shells (Arachis hypogaea L.) as bioadsorbent of heavy metal chromium VI. The aims of this study was to determine the effectiveness of bioadsorbent groundnut shell with a mass variation of 0.5 gr; 1.0 gr and 1.5 gr in reducing the content of chromium (VI) heavy metals in the chrome metal coating industry wastes. The research method uses the True Experimental Design method with a pretest-posttest with control group design. Measurement of chromium VI content obtained results in sample 1 of 0,126 mg/l, sample 2 of 0,154 mg/l and sample 3 of 0,138 mg/l. The highest effectiveness was shown in the addition of 1.5 grams of bioadsorbent with an average effectiveness value of 97.97%. This is due to the more amount of adsorbent used, it will increase the number of particles and surface area, causing the number of sites to bind metal ions to increase. Data analysis using One Way Anova with α = 0.05 conducted further tests using the Post Hoc test. Statistical test results showed difference between treatments with significant values 0,000<0.05.
