Abstract

ABSTRACT Gusti, Gemalani Setiyaning. 2017. Factors Influencing Labor Hearing Loss in Centrifuge Station of PG. X East Java. Thesis. S1 Environmental Health Study Program of Widyagama Husada School of Health Malang.Advisors: (1) Zhafira Sakinah, S.Si., M.KKK (2) Ike Dian Wahyuni, S.KL. Hearing loss is still one of the major problems faced by society in Indonesia. Hearing loss can occur because of various factors such as age, length of service, use of personal protective equipment and noise-related hobbies. This study aimed at finding out the factors that affect the hearing loss of labor in the centrifuge station of PG. X East Java. The research method used was analytical observation with cross sectional approach. The sample used was the entire workforce section of the centrifuge station, there were 10 people. The sample technique used was purposive sampling. Analysis of the research results using binary logistic regression test, that wasfollowed by Maximum likelihood test and Wald test. Maximum likelihood test results were p-value (10,008)> Chi-square table value indicated the number 5, so there were factors that affect the hearing loss of labor. Wald test results obtained that B value was 21.203 with a significant level of Wald test was 0.999, so the use of ear protective equipment has a high influence on the hearing loss of labor function. It is therefore advisable for the workforce to conduct regular ear health checks and request the provision of ear protective equipment at the company.
