Abstract

ABSTRACT Dewi, Reyna S C. 2020. Relationship between Physical Workload and Physical Work Environment toward Dehydration Status of Laundry Operator Workers at PT. Kasih Karunia Sejati Malang. Thesis. S1 Environmental Health Department. School of Health and Science Widyagama Husada Malang. Advisors 1. dr. Rudy Joegijantoro, MMRS, 2. Devita Sari, S.T., M.M The production process still requires manual equipment and involves the role of human. Human have limitation, especially in physical terms so the workload must be in accordance with the limit of ability. The condition of physical work environment affects the ability and limit of the workers. Workers have a heavy workload when they are in a hot work environment, that they could become dehydrated. Dehydration causes workers to experience health problems and Occupational Diseases as it continuously happen. This study aimed to determine the relationship between physical workload and physical work environment toward dehydration status of laundry operator workers at PT. Kasih Karunia Sejati Malang. The method used in this research was analytical method with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used is total sampling by measuring the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample consisted of 31 respondents. Analysis of the results of this research used the Spearman statistical test. Based on the results of the Spearman analysis test that p value = 0.099 (> 0.05), means that there was no significant relationship between physical workload with the dehydration status of laundry operator workers. Most laundry operator workers have light to moderate physical workloads. While the physical work environment in the laundry unit was included in the heat category with a value of p = 0.001 (<0.05), that shown a significant relationship between the physical work environment and dehydration status of laundry operator workers. Finally, it can be concluded that: first, there was no relationship between physical workload and dehydration status. Second, there was a relationship between physical work environment with dehydration status of laundry operator workers.
