Abstract

ABTRACT Nipa, Alfian Umbu. 2019. Correlation of Supervision from the Chief Nurse with Nurse Working Motivation in Bangil Regional General Hospital. Thesis. Nursing Program of Widyagama Husada School of Health Malang. Advisors: (1) Frengki Apryanto S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep (2) Rosly Zunaedi S.Kep., Ners Background: Effective supervision increases nurse motivation to achieve the goals of nursing management and nursing care. The briefing function to increase motivation is divided into three, namely communication, supervision, and delegation. Supervision is an activity that is the responsibility of managers to provide support, develop knowledge and skills and values of groups, individuals or teams. Motivation is a psychological process in directing and establishing voluntary actions that lead to goals. Objective: To find out the correlation of supervision from the chief nurse with nurse working motivation in Bangil Regional General Hospital. Research Methods: This research used descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 53 respondents. The instrument used was questionnaires about directing supervision and work motivation of nurse incharge. The statistical test used was the Spearman Correlation. Result: The results showed that supervision from the chief nurse was still low (39 nurses out of 53 respondents) and motivation of working nurses was still low (38 respondents from 53 respondents). Correlation score 0,495, it indicated positive correlation with moderate correlation strength. Conclusion: There was correlation between the supervision of the chief nurse with the nurses working motivation with ρ = 0,000. Suggestion: Hospital management is expected to be able to evaluate the supervision of the chief nurse and improve the implementation of the supervision. Nurse are expected to maintain and increase motivation to work so they can provide optimal nursing care.
