Abstract

The Relation of Internal and External Factors and Community Behavior in the Use of Latrines Distributed to the River in RW 04 Kotalama Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang. Thesis. S1 Environmental Health Study Program. Widyagama Husada Health Science College. Advisors : (1) Rudy Joegijantoro, MMRS (2) Tiwi Yuniastuti, S.Si., M.Kes The latrine is a room for human waste disposal facility that is equipped with a dirt and water storage unit for cleaning. Based on latrine data from Kedungkandang Health Center in 2016 at RW 04 Kotalama Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang there were 531 houses that had latrines distributed to the river. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between internal and external factors with people's behavior in the use of latrines which were channeled to the river in RW 04 river Kotalama Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang. The method in this study was qualitative analytic with cross sectional approach. The sample in this study were 45 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The analysis data in this study used the Fisher Exact Test. The results of data analysis showed that there is a correlation between knowledge and community behavior in the use of latrines with a p-value <0.05, while for attitude categories, educational backgrounds, health workers and community leaders, showed no relationship with people's behavior in using latrines with p-values respectively are 0.218, 0.769, 0.485 and 0.581. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that there is a meaningful relationship between knowledge and people's behavior in using latrines.
